BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW DELHI -- India's federal health ministry Thursday morning said 194 new deaths due to COVID-19, besides 6,566 new positive cases were reported since Wednesday in the country, taking the number of deaths to 4,531 and total cases to 158,333.

"As on 8:00 a.m. (local time) Thursday, 4,531 deaths related to novel coronavirus have been recorded in the country," reads information released by the ministry.

BRASILIA -- Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has faced more criticisms after U.S. President Donald Trump imposed a travel ban on non-U.S. citizens from the South American country, as the COVID-19 epidemic is getting worse in Brazil.

The U.S. move has provided Bolsonaro's foes with new arsenals to satirize the Brazilian leader.

TRIPOLI -- The UN-backed Libyan government on Wednesday extended a curfew for 10 days in its further efforts to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.

The extension of the curfew running from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. local time starts Thursday, it said.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Libya stands at 99, including 40 recoveries and four deaths, according to the National Center for Disease Control.

CHANGCHUN -- No new confirmed COVID-19 cases and asymptomatic cases were reported in northeast China's Jilin Province on Wednesday, the provincial health commission said Thursday.

This marks that Jilin has reported no new confirmed COVID-19 cases for four consecutive days.

MOSCOW -- Russia has decided to postpone the 2020 summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS initially scheduled to be held in St. Petersburg in July, the Kremlin announced Wednesday.

The new dates for the summits will be determined depending on the further development of the epidemiological situation in member countries and around the world, the Kremlin said in a statement.
