BEIRUT, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Health Minister Hamad Hassan said on Monday that the number of the Lebanese who have infected with COVID-19 accounts for only 0.3 percent of the Lebanese population, the National News Agency reported.
Hassan's remarks came during a webinar organized by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia.
Hassan said the low number of infections encouraged the government to reopen economic sectors after months of closure following the outbreak of the virus.
"We have to exert extra efforts to reduce the virus spread while keeping pace with the government's decision to open up the country's various sectors," he warned.
Lebanon's number of COVID-19 cases reached on Monday 1,885 while the death toll stands at 36.
