ULAN BATOR -- The ruling Mongolian People's Party is holding a conference here on Friday to select a nominee for a new prime minister after the resignation of the government.
On Thursday, Mongolian Prime Minister Ukhnaa Khurelsukh proposed the resignation of his government after two ministers announced their withdrawal amid social pressure and public protests, and the parliament accepted his proposal. (Mongolia-PM-Nominee)

WASHINGTON -- Mitch McConnell, the U.S. Senate Republican leader, on Thursday proposed that former President Donald Trump's impeachment trial be delayed until mid-February so as to give him enough time to prepare a defense.
On a conference call with Republican senators, McConnell suggested "Trump should have at least as much time as the president had in previous trials, which means he would like to postpone the proceeding until the second week of February," The Hill reported. (US-Trump-Impeachment)

TRIPOLI -- Candidates for Libya's unified executive authority can be submitted in a one-week period starting Thursday, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya announced Thursday.
"Following the decision of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum to adopt a selection mechanism for a temporary executive authority, through a vote conducted on Jan. 19, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya announced today the commencement of a one-week period for the submission of candidacies for the positions of a three-member Presidency Council and of prime minister, closing on Jan. 28," the UN mission said in a statement.
