SACRAMENTO, California: California ended the majority of its Covid restrictions this week, with a few exceptions, such as wearing masks on public transportation.

Many restrictions have been lifted by Governor Gavin Newsom, such as the ending of requirements to socially distance, and it is no longer necessary to limit capacity in restaurants, stores and other businesses.

The state health department, however, is maintaining some restrictions, such as wearing masks when traveling on public transit and inside healthcare settings. Also, indoor concerts and events with more than 5,000 in attendance will be required to confirm proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 results among ticket holders.

Meanwhile, tech companies in Silicon Valley appear to be cautiously moving forward in lifting restrictions. Many have announced they will only reopen their offices after the September 7 Labor Day holiday, or even wait until 2022 to reopen offices fully.

Apple will allow workers to continue working part-time from home, however, employees will be required to work in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning in early September.

Many companies are also giving on-site employees the option to work remotely for several weeks a year.
