BEIRUT, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Saroj Kumar Jha, World Bank regional director for the Middle East, said on Friday that the World Bank will support the Lebanese new cabinet in dealing with the ongoing crises, the Lebanese Finance Ministry said a statement.

"We affirm our readiness to support efforts in addressing Lebanon's crises by implementing urgent reforms especially in the electricity sector which is on top of our priority list," Jha said during his meeting with Lebanon's newly appointed Finance Minister Youssef Khalil.

Jha noted that the World Bank stands ready to assist the Lebanese government in facing challenges in the electricity sector, by aiding the country to increase power generation while working with partner countries to import gas and electricity to solve the problem.

Lebanon has been facing multiple crises, and electricity shortage is one of the most important challenges currently prevailing in the country, as all the economic sectors rely heavily on electricity.
