27 Sep 2022, 04:44 GMT+10

BEIRUT, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Lebanese parliament on Monday approved the 2022 budget with a deficit of 11 trillion Lebanese pounds (297 million U.S. dollars), the National News Agency reported.

Revenues in the 2022 budget reached 30 trillion Lebanese pounds, while expenditures are estimated at around 41 trillion Lebanese pounds.

The parliament approved an increase in salaries of all public sector employees to no less than 5 million Lebanese pounds monthly and no more than 12 million Lebanese pounds per month.

Lebanon has been suffering from an unprecedented financial crisis, and approving the 2022 budget is one of the many conditions supported by the International Monetary Fund to unlock aid for the crisis-hit country.
