Lebanon launches snow festival to boost economy

03 Feb 2023, 02:05 GMT+10

BEIRUT, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Tourism Minister Walid Nassar on Thursday launched Lebanon Snow Festival to attract tourists, aiming to generate revenues for the crisis-hit country.

"At this time, we need to cooperate and create solidarity among all tourism institutions, unions, and relevant ministries and security agencies to achieve the required success in attracting the largest possible number of tourists," Nassar said.

Nassar called on Lebanese expatriates and foreign tourists to visit Lebanon and enjoy the snow and ski season with the reduced prices on travel tickets set by Lebanon's national carrier, Middle East Airlines, starting from Feb. 3, the National News Agency reported.

Lebanon has been facing an unprecedented financial crisis, prompting Lebanese authorities to encourage tourists to visit Lebanon by adopting transparent pricing policies in hotels and restaurants and security measures to ensure a safe stay for tourists in the country.
