Mideast in Pictures: 30 days into U.S.-Israeli war on Iran

CAIRO, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Thirty days into the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, the conflict in the Middle East shows no signs of de-escalation.

Iran remains defiant, launching counter-strikes and navigating leadership reconstruction following the deaths of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other top leaders.

Israel engages on multiple fronts. Continued strikes from Iran, along with attacks from Lebanon's Hezbollah and Yemen's Houthis, have stretched its defenses. Several advanced missiles and cluster munitions have penetrated its multi-layered air defense systems, causing significant casualties and damage.

In Washington, officials are exploring a negotiated exit, with tentative timelines of four to six weeks. Yet the campaign has produced neither a decisive breakthrough nor a clear path to resolution.

Neighboring states brace for spillover across the region, global oil markets react sharply, and major countries are scrambling to contain the escalation.

As of the one-month mark, the region remains precariously on edge, with the potential for broader conflict looming.
